Another Sunday
Like all Sundays.. Mass at the Cathedral.. 10am..
Then roamed around Chinatown with a little monkey in tow..
Located at the corner of Club Street is this dilapidated shophouse.. Quaint shophouses line either sides of this narrow and rather deserted street.. It kind of reminded the little monkey of the movie 28 Days Later..
Da Zhong Guo.. Yummy mooncakes.. Retro paper bags.. The auntie said, "Boy ah.. You buy one more box then I give you the paper bag okay?".. So I bought two boxes of mini snowskin mooncakes when I intended to buy just one.. I know.. Stop laughing..

The Last Empress
Am currently on this book.. A pleasant read that brings us up close with one of last century's most powerful woman and undoubtedly most wickedest.. A fascinating tale of love, betrayal, murder, intrigue, and survival, The Last Empress also offers remarkable insight into life behind the closed doors of the Forbidden City..

The Steeple
Up inside the Cathedral's steeple..
Creaking floorboards.. Dark stairways.. The perfect setting for a horror flick..
It is here where you will find the 3 Cathedral Bells from France.. Ding dong ding..
Amongst many items you will find statues.. Saint Therese of Lisieux..
Antiques.. A fine antique monstrance in need of restoration..
Candlesticks..
"Ah-chooo!".. Very dusty.. Guess its time for some spring cleaning..
Cathedral of the Good Shepherd
An oasis of calm reflection in the city.. The Cathedral offers a cool respite from today's heated, hectic society..
This was how the Cathedral compound looked like in the past.. To the left is the Cathedral with its towering steeple while on the right is the Rectory.. In the far background you will see another steeple.. This is the steeple of the 'Town Convent' Chapel (the present day CHIJMES Hall)..
The Sanctuary..
Built in August 1912 by Messrs. Bevington & Sons for $5894.61, the Gallery Organ was dedicated on 20th October 1912 at 4.30pm by The Right Reverend Marie-Luc-Alphonse-Emile Barillon, The Lord Bishop of Malacca.. It was restored in 1984 by Mr. Robert Navaratnam and rededicated on 16th December 1984 by the Rector of the Cathedral, Reverend Father Robert Balhetchet.. This is the oldest surviving pipe organ in Singapore..

Tanglin View
Behold.. Was at Redhill MRT station waiting for my mum to fetch me home when I caught this beautiful sight..
Back in the USSR
Finally found a shop selling Soviet memorabilia along Pagoda Street in Chinatown.. Bought 3 lovely pieces of metal for $21.. A commemorative medal for the 50th anniversary of the victory in the Great Patriotic War, a Comsomol membership pin made from brass with screw on the back and a Red Guard medallion issued to members of special army units for victory in an important battle during WWII..

The Maid
Was on my way to the train station this evening when something made me recall the movie I caught on Saturday- THE MAID by local film-maker Kelvin Tong.. That something was the sidewalk I was walking towards.. The vivid picture of the many uncles and aunties squatting by the sidewalk and making their offerings to the hungry ghosts the past few days was still fresh in my mind.. Anyway.. Rosa Dimaano, the maid played by Alessandra De Rossi started to see spirits after she unwittingly swept the kim zua (joss paper) offerings made by her employer off the sidewalk.. Pity her.. At the same time, my heart goes out to the hundreds and perhaps thousands of road sweepers who keep Singapore clean and green.. Pity them.. Especially during the Seventh Month..

Went to Ikea for dinner and shopping just now.. Reached at 9pm.. With an hour left (they close at 10pm) and for $22.90 I bought a replacement lampshade for my parent's room and artificial rose petals (dunno for what).. The previous lampshade I bought for my parents tore.. My dad said, " Boy ah why the lampshade like very kiddish leh.. But very nice.. Mummy's birthday coming soon.. So dun need to pay you for the lampshade hor?".. Kiam siap.. Anyway.. I'm happy they liked it..
